INT. ELEVATOR – DAY
Tired workaday faces in a jam-packed elevator. Light MUSAK. CRUNCH. The elevator jerks to a stop.
ELEVATOR RIDER #1: pushes one button after another. No response.
ELEVATOR RIDER #1: Crap. I don’t have time for this. Lights flicker. The elevator drops a foot with a big metal SHRIEK.
ELEVATOR RIDER #3: Look! There’s a hatch in the ceiling. Somebody grab it! Hands reach for the ceiling hatch.
Unseen from behind the panicked Elevator Riders: the Voice Of Reason.
NAKED MAN (O.S.): Guys, I know this is scary. But this sort of thing happens all the time. What do you say we just calm down wait for help to arrive?
The Riders relax. The lights and MUSAK GRIND back up. Normalcy and calm return. A collective SIGH of relief.
ELEVATOR RIDER #2: You know, he’s right. When do you ever hear about people dying in an elevator? What is this, the 1930’s? I feel a lot better. Thanks mister.
The elevator riders turn, part. From the back wall, Naked Man gives them a confident nod. Startled riders press themselves back against the elevator walls.
NAKED MAN: Think nothing of it, folks.
ELEVATOR RIDER #3: You’re . . .
Naked Man is completely naked – always shot waist-up, knee- down or otherwise cleverly concealed. NAKED MAN: Only happy to help.
ELEVATOR RIDER #2: But how come . . . wait. Is that? It is! I smell smoke.
Lights FRITZ out completely. The elevator drops, GRINDS to a stop.
CABLES SNAP. SCREAMS. Pitch black. Everything stops.
CLICK. Naked Man holds up a lighter.
NAKED MAN: What do you say we get you nice folks up through that hatch?
ELEVATOR RIDER #1: Not my business. But where was that lighter hiding?
